I have had friends that refuse to play minecraft because 'it's boring and repetitive' and then go play this game for 8 hours and do nothing but sit in their house and kill the dragon every now and then. This game's combat system is worse than anything I've ever played before, even flash games are miles above this. Oh, but don't forget that every other night you walk outside and shoot at a dragon for five minutes and then go back inside. All you do is just play a worse version of minecraft with awful noises playing in your ear's from the enemies outside. I would forgive the bad graphics and horrendous sound design if the gameplay were anything interesting, but it's not. The only difference is this game has literally nothing to offer. None of the assets in this game go together resulting in an average play session looking like a chaotic garry's mod server. This game is bugged out, ugly, and really just not fun. The amount of created content is actually mind boggling for a game that just officially launched on Steam.I really don't get why anyone plays this game besides a quick nostalgia blast. For example I was able to play as characters like Shrek and Chuck Norris while wielding katanas and a dragon themed sniper rifle. Workstorm (the name of their Steam Workshop is filled with a plethora of innovative and sometime humorous weapons, characters, and maps.

It is the most creative and has the most solid gameplay. Of the games above, has found Blockstorm to be the best of the bunch by far. Costs $15 on Steam and lacks player support. Is much newer than Ace of Spades.Ĭastleminer Z – Online coop survival game. Could be an indie gem if players support it enough.īlock-n-Load – Sandbox building and tactical FPS by Jagex. Who wouldn’t want to make any character or design any weapon to find in any type of environment?Īce of Spades – One of the the first voxel shooters by Jagex.īlockstorm – One of the newest and best entries so far. In fact, the possibilities could be endless if you really think about it. Thankfully, this did not stop other attempts at combining the two genres since it does have a great deal of potential.

However, there has not been a game that was what you call a homerun.Īce of Spades and Brick Force are two of the earliest of this nice little niche, but neither one grabbed a kept a huge player base. The idea is to be able to create as much as possible ala Minecraft and then have a shooter as the main game dynamic and be able to construct as well as blow anything in the environment up. Many games have came out trying to find that right formula of both games and create gaming magic. Voxel or block based FPS shooters are not exactly new due to the success of both Counter-Strike and Minecraft.
